Caspian Airlines

Caspian Airlines is an Iranian airline based in Tehran and based at the airport, Tehran - Imam Khomeini.

History

The airline was founded in 1993 and took over the air traffic on in September of the same year.

Destinations

Within the Iranian Caspian Airlines flies as of July 2009 from Imam Khomeini International Airport, Ahwaz, Asalouyeh, Isfahan, Kish, Mahschahr, Mashhad, Shiraz, Tabriz and Zabol.

International flights are operated from Tehran to Beirut, Budapest, Damascus, Dubai, Yerevan, Istanbul, Kiev and Minsk. Damascus is also served by Isfahan and Mashhad, Dubai and Abadan, Ahwaz and from Tabriz.

Incidents

  • On 15 July 2009, a Tupolev Tu- 154M of the Caspian Airlines crashed on flight RV7908 from Tehran to Yerevan near the village Dschannatabad in Qazvin in north-western Iran. The machine with ID EP -CPG accident 16 minutes after launch, all 156 passengers and 12 crew members were killed.
