Cassadaga is an album by the band Bright Eyes. It was released in April 2007.

Album Title

The album is named after the place in Cassadaga Florida. The small town is a center for spiritualism ( the belief in contact with spirits of the dead).

Recording and Artwork

The album was recorded during the year 2006 in the Presto! Studios in Lincoln, Nebraska and in other studios in New York City and Portland. Producer was as with many Bright Eyes albums before Mike Mogis, who is out even as a permanent member since 2005.

The artwork is by Zack Nipper. It contains hidden proverbs in different languages ​​(including English, Russian, Greek and Portuguese), which can be visualized using a decoder. For the artwork, there was the 2008 Grammy Award in the category Best Recording Package.

Charts

The album debuted at # 4 on the Billboard 200, a - the best to date chart placement of a Bright Eyes album. In the first week it reached 58,000 sales in the United States.
