Cassano delle Murge

Cassano delle Murgia is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 14,395 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Bari, in Puglia. The community is located about 27 kilometers southwest of Bari and about 28 north-east of Matera in the Murgia. Under the protection forest area near Foresta Mercadante is located ( about 10 square kilometers [ 1083 hectares ] ).

History
