Cassville is a municipality ( with a status of "Village" ) in Grant County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, Cassville had 947 inhabitants.

History

In 1827 the first settlement was founded by Lewis Cass, the governor of the then Michigan Territory, named. After formation of the Wisconsin Territory in 1836 Cassville was on the short list of possible major cities of the territory, which was then extended up the Missouri River from Lake Michigan. But when Madison the capital of the territory was raised, a number of land speculators in Cassville were insolvent.
