Castagneto Carducci

Originally, then called Castagneto Castagneto Gherardesca Marittima - - Castagneto Carducci is a village with 8456 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Livorno in the Tuscany region, which was renamed in honor of the poet Giosuè Carducci, who spent his childhood there.

Geography

The municipality covers 142 km ². The districts include Bolgheri, Donoratico and Marina di Castagneto. The neighboring municipalities are Bibbona, Monteverdi Marittimo (PI ), San Vincenzo, Sassetta and Suvereto. The place is located in the wine region of Sassicaia and has a breakpoint on the railway Pisa - Roma.

History

The place is known since 754 AD. In the village married on July 9, 2005 Princess Alexandra of Sayn -Wittgenstein- Sayn Count Stefano Hunyady of Kéthely.
