Casteddu di Tappa

The Torre Tappa, also Casteddu di Tappa is an established between natural rock system of Torre- culture in the municipality of Porto -Vecchio, Corsica. The complex is located in relation to other monuments of this culture not too high, 60 m above sea level.

Within the rock formation and the 1.5-2 m high and 2-3 m wide perimeter are the foundations of a hut with two hearths, one Abri and the actual monument. The somewhat destroyed, round Monument, which builds on nuragical role models in the floor plan, one of the oldest buildings torreanischen. We found it covered with the rock material of his vault. The covered plates with access to Cella rises stepped up. It is adjacent to the one in the Tower of Foce the only staircase that has been discovered in a torreanischen Monument. The semi- circular side niches served by Roger Grosjean, who examined the plant in the 1960s, cultic purposes. A rock in the middle of the cella was covered by several layers: the top layer consisted of humus, the second contained stones and clay of the collapsed vault, which possibly had a vent for the fireplace, in the third layer was found numerous hearths, grinding and grinding stones or fragments thereof.

By means of the radiocarbon dating method dated to the last use of the complex at 1907 BC Another date was 2218 BC, so that this plant was used about 300 years. The ceramics ( urns, vases ) and the fragment of a bronze sword blade of existing discoveries are displayed in the Musee de Prehistoire Corse in Sartène.
