Castel del Rio

Castel del Rio is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1215 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Bologna in the Emilia_Romagna.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 35 kmKilometer south-southeast of Bologna on Santerno. Through the western part of the municipality of Sillaro flows. Castel del Rio is part of the Comunità Montana Valle del Santerno and directly borders the provinces of Ravenna and Florence.

The districts include Belvedere, Giugnola, Moraduccio and Valsalva. Largest district next to the main village ( 733 inhabitants), Belvedere ( 65 inhabitants).

The neighboring municipalities are Casalfiumanese, Casola Valsenio (RA ), Firenzuola ( FI), Fontanelice, Monterenzio and Palazzuolo sul Senio ( FI).

History

The community goes back to a Celtic settlement dating from the 5th or 6th century BC. First mentioned in writing was the place as Castrum Rivi 1179.

Attractions

  • , Also called Palazzo Alidosi Castello Alidosi, originated at the beginning of the 16th century. 1841 Town Hall and contains the Museo della Guerra
  • Ponte Alidosi, 1499 by Obizzo Alidosi commissioned bridge, which was realized by Andrea Gurrieri. Has been restored several times and in 1897 the National Monument ( Monumento Nazionale ) is explained.

Traffic

Through the community, the Strada Statale 610 Selice o Montanara Imolese of Lavazzola leads Conselice to Firenzuola.
