Castellaro

Castellaro ( in Ligurian: Castellà ) is a municipality with 1261 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the northern Italian region of Liguria. Politically it belongs to the province of Imperia.

Geography

Castellaro belongs to the Comunità Montana Argentina Armea and is about 20 kilometers from the provincial capital of Imperia.

According to the Italian classifications for seismic activity, the community of Zone 2 has been assigned. This means that Castellaro located in a seismically active zone moderate to strong.

Climate

The municipality is classified under climate category D, as the number of degree days has a value of 1702. This means that in Italy legally regulated heating season is between November 1 and April 15 for 12 hours per day.

Tourism

In 2004 a golf hotel opened in Castellaro ( Castellaro Golf Resort ). Many residents who were previously unemployed, have found a job by the new department.
