Castelli Romani

As Castelli Romani ( Rome is also only the name Castelli common) the territory of 16 municipalities referred to in the Italian region of Lazio. The communities are located 20-53 km from Rome and all lie in or on the Alban Hills.

The term Castelli Romani ( German about: Roman Castles ) is derived from the castles, but especially the numerous villas ago, the nobles and wealthy citizens of Rome were built in the area since ancient times. The term Castelli Romani is today mainly used for tourism marketing of the region, which is the recreational area of Rome for over 2500 years.

The Castelli Romani are no administrative organization, such as the Comunità Montana dei Castelli Romani e Prenestini that is not congruent, however, with the Castelli Romani.

The Natural Park of the Castelli Romani ( Regional Park dei Castelli Romani ), located in Rocca di Papa comprises 12,000 hectares, the core area of the territory.
