Castelluccio dei Sauri

Castelluccio dei Sauri is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2094 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Foggia in Apulia. The municipality is situated approximately 16 km south-southwest of Foggia in the Gargano National Park and also belongs to the Comunità Montana del Gargano.

History

The municipality is located in the settlement of the country Daunians. During the later Roman Empire, it was a small settlement ( Oppidulum ). Set in a medieval document Castelluccio dei Sauri is mentioned in 1118 in a donation of Robert II of Loritello.

In 1980, the community was severely damaged by an earthquake.
