Castelnuovo Belbo

Castelnuovo Belbo is a municipality with 914 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Asti (AT ), Region Piedmont.

Geography

The town is located on the lower reaches of the Belbo ( Tanaro river system / Po ) at about 122 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of 9 km ².

The neighboring municipalities are Bergamasco, Bruno, Incisa Scapaccino, Mombaruzzo and Nizza Monferrato.

Specialty

The Muscat grape for the Asti Spumante, a sweet DOCG sparkling wine with a low alcohol content and for still wine Moscato d'Asti is grown among other Castelnuovo Belbo. The vines of Barbera for the Barbera d'Asti, a red wine with DOCG status are also grown here.
