Castiglione Messer Raimondo

Castiglione Messer Raimondo is a municipality with 2335 inhabitants and is located near Montefino and Castilenti in the Italian province of Teramo. The town is a member of the Comunità Montana del Vomano, Fino e Piomba.

Geography

Among the districts ( fractions) are Appignano, Borea Santa Maria, Bozzano, Cesi, Colletrimarino, Piane, San Giorgio and Vorghe.

Borders the following municipalities: Bisenti, Castilenti, Cellino Attanasio, Montefino and penne.

The municipality is situated approximately 34 km from the capital of the province, the city of Teramo and 28.5 km from the Adriatic coast.

Special

The patron saint of the village is Donato d' Arezzo ( St. Donato ), who was the second Bishop of Arezzo from 285 to 304 in the year. Since his death on August 7, 363 every five years is guided his body in solemn procession through the streets of the village.
