Castle of Almansa

The Castillo de Almansa is a castle in Almansa, a town in Albacete province of Castilla -La Mancha ( Spain) Autonomous Region, which was rebuilt in the 15th century. The castle on a steep limestone cliffs above the village is a protected monument.

History and Description

Originally stood on the rocks one of the most important military installations of the Moors in Spain, which secured the northern border. After the recapture of the castle was rebuilt, which adapts to the contours of the rock long, narrow rock. The main tower dominates the rest of the building, it is connected by a narrow platform with smaller towers. During the renovation of the early 1980s, the battlements were restored.
