Castlereagh (borough)

Castlereagh (Irish At Caisleán Riabhach ) is one of the 26 Districts in Northern Ireland. The District, whose territory lies in the traditional county of Down, was established in 1973 and has the status of a Borough. Castlereagh includes the southeastern suburbs of Belfast. Significant places are Carryduff and Dundonald. In the 23 -member district council, the Democratic Unionist Party, which was able to win in the elections of 2005 13 seats dominated. It also provides the mayor with Joanne Bunting.

Since the year 2000, Castlereagh partner district of Kent in the U.S. state of Washington. Castlereagh is not to be confused with the town of Castlerea in the Republic of Ireland.
