Caswell County, North Carolina

Caswell County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Yanceyville, which was named after the politician Bartlett Yancey.

Geography

The County is located in the north of North Carolina, bordered by Virginia and has an area of 1110 square kilometers, of which 10 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Person County, Orange County, Alamance County and Rockingham County.

Caswell County is divided into nine townships: Anderson, Dan River, Hightower, Leasburg, Locust Hill, Milton, Pelham, Stoney Creek and Yanceyville.

History

Caswell County was formed in 1777 from parts of Orange County. It was named a governor of North Carolina to Richard Caswell.
