Cat # 1, the title of the 1994 publication second studio album of the American hard rock band Criss.
Background
Together with the musicians Mark Montague ( bass), Kirk Miller ( lead guitar ), Mike Stone (vocals ) had Peter Criss, former drummer and founding member of Kiss, founded in 1992, the group Criss, with whom he had released the EP Criss in October 1993.
During the summer of 1993, the band recorded more pieces, which were then published in August 1994 on the LP or CD Cat # 1. The pieces included on the EP were, with the exception of the songs The Cat and What You're Doin ', also part of Cat # 1 This was also the song Beth, who had re-recorded the group in an acoustic version. Beth had Kiss in 1976 brought the first major radio hit.
The album cover was the drummer with a half in his Kiss make-up made-up face.
Reception
The album achieved any commercial success and received no awards. The reviewer in January Jaedike wrote in the German magazine Rock Hard:
"This kind Biederer, ballad -heavy hard rock, which presents us with the would-be veteran here, so long obsolete as the calls for a Kiss reunion in the original line -up. At least with this album shows Criss impressive that he can keep up second to none, with its still mercurial former colleagues. The next guessed new recording of ' Beth ', which was already available on the mini-CD is recycled again, and also the then strongest track ' Show Me ', which is sung by guitarist Mike Stone is to rediscover here, as the terrible ' Good Times ', the worst memory-lane of old solo discs of Mr. Criss. Otherwise sovereign rult the lower average. What keeps the disc from total crash, are Peter's scratchy vocals that still help some of the songs into something bite, and occasionally translucent potential of its companion volume, to which joins a few tracks, a certain Ace Frehley.
