Catalin - Pantele Racanel ( born September 23, 1976 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian- German football player and current coach.

Career

Racanel grew up in his hometown of Bucharest with his parents. In 1990, his club Viitorul Bucharest part in a youth tournament in France. On the way back to Romania the coach held in Saarbrücken, where Răcănels uncle and aunt lived. This invited him to spend two weeks of vacation with them and later convinced him not to return to Romania. Racanel remained in Germany and played in the youth for the SG Erbach and the FC 08 Homburg. His first stop in the men's area was the league club Borussia Neunkirchen, with which he descended in 1996 from the Regionalliga West / Southwest. After four years he moved to SV Elversberg. After only one year, he joined the squadron rivals Eintracht Trier, for whom he completed 34 games in the next two years, while scoring twice. For the season 2001 /02 he was the Bundesliga team FC St. Pauli committed. Here he could not prevail, and came into the league only to seven inserts. After another seven games the following season in the 2nd Bundesliga, he went back to Eintracht Trier. There Racanel could win a regular place, and came in the next two years to 65 missions, in which he scored 13 goals. After the descent of Eintracht Trier moved to LR Ahlen where he came up with 28 games and one goal. After re- relegation from the Bundesliga 2 he went to the fourth-rate Oberliga Nordost to FC Sachsen Leipzig. After two years in which he was able to achieve five goals in 40 games, he moved to the beginning of the season 2008/ 09 1 FC Magdeburg. Here he immediately became a regular player and played in 33 of the 34 games in which he scored four goals. In the following season, he went to 27 inserts with a gate. Răcănels contract with 1.FC Magdeburg was not extended to the end of the season 2010. For the 2011/12 season Racanel returned to Borussia Neunkirchen. At the end of the season 11/12 he finished his playing career. Since April 24, 2012 he is the coach of Borussia Neunkirchen.

Racanel laid in 2005 from his Romanian citizenship after he had previously become a German citizen.
