Catch me who can

Catch me who can ( or undocumented, Catch me who can ') was the name of the fourth built by Richard Trevithick steam locomotive and the first commercial locomotive for passenger operations. The vehicle was manufactured in 1808 in the Hazeldine foundry in Bridgnorth ( Shropshire ) and weighed eight tons.

The engine ran at a top speed of 19 km / h on a small circular path on the Torrington Square, London, near present-day Euston station. For a shilling, the audience was able to put in a trailing car and can travel about. Trevithick wanted to prove that traveling by train is faster than on horseback. Catch me who can was more of a circus attraction as a real urban transport.

The company had to be terminated after only two months, as the locomotive was too heavy for the relatively fragile cast-iron rails and the public interest remained modest.
