Catharine Beecher

Catherine Esther Beecher (* September 6, 1800 in East Hampton, Long Iceland, † May 12, 1878 ) was an American writer.

Life

Beecher was the daughter of the preacher Lyman Beecher. One of her brothers was the preacher Henry Ward Beecher and her sister was the writer Harriet Beecher Stowe.

Already at the age of 16 she helped to establish a girls' school in Hartford (Connecticut) and helped to 1832 to lead this and tried to give the lessons a religious focus.

At the age of 78 years, the writer Catherine Esther Beecher died on 12 May 1878.
