Cathedral of Learning

The Cathedral of Learning is a skyscraper in Pittsburgh and the main building of the University of Pittsburgh. The Cathedral of Learning is not in Downtown, but a few miles outside the district Oakland.

With 163 meters it is the second tallest university building in the world after the Lomonosov University in Moscow and the Woolworth Building in New York the second tallest building in neo-Gothic style.

The construction was begun in 1926 and completed after eleven years of construction 1936. In comparison, the finished significantly higher and larger The Trump Building after eleven months.

The architect of the skyscraper is Charles Z. Klauder.
