Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Tyler, Texas)

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is a Roman Catholic bishop in the Church of Tyler Texas town. It was built in 1934 in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. Since 1987 she has been the bishop of the newly erected Diocese of Tyler.

History

When after continuous growth of the Catholic community of the city, the original church building - one erected in a simple timber frame construction - had become too small, was in 1934 a few blocks further south in today urban prominent location at the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and West Front Street today existing church building as a second church in the community.

As part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the parish in 1978, modifications were made to take account of the revised liturgy at the facilities of the church. From this period also a newly built archway that repeats the typical for the construction of arches of the facade and windows of the church.

After erection of the Diocese of Tyler from areas of the dioceses Beaumont, Dallas, and Galveston - Houston on December 12, 1986, the church was dedicated in 1987 to the cathedral.

On November 21, 1989, she was declared a Tyler Historic Landmark.
