Catherine Colonna

Catherine Colonna (* April 16, 1956 in Saint- Symphorien, Indre- et- Loire ) is a French politician and diplomat, most recently in rank of ambassador.

In addition to an advanced degree (DEA ) in public law, they can show diplomas of the Political Academy of Sciences Po and ENA. In the early 1980s, she joined the Foreign Service and started her professional career as a diplomat at the French embassy in Washington in the Department of Public Information. After a change in the Legal Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she took over in 1988 under Maurice Faure as Minister of Equipment, a function as a consultant on technical issues. Two years later, in 1990 she re-entered the service of the Foreign Ministry, this time within the Directorate for Communication and Information.

From 1993 under the Foreign Minister Alain Juppe and his chief of staff, Dominique de Villepin, she managed to acquire special merit, so that she was appointed deputy spokeswoman.

With his entry into the presidential palace in 1995, Jacques Chirac, Catherine Colonna summoned as his press officer to his side. When she more than nine years later, expressed a wish to be adopted from this function, it the Office of the Director of the Centre national de la cinématographie was offered, which she held from September 2004.

With the reshuffle in June 2005 due to the rejection of the European constitution by referendum, she took over as delegated Minister of European issues in the government of Dominique de Villepin, the first time a private resort that she held until 15 May 2007.

On 26 March 2008 she was appointed French ambassador to UNESCO. Since 2010 she works for the Brunswick Group.

Since 20 May 2008, she is an honorary member of the board of the newly founded Fondation pour le développement durable Jacques Chirac et le dialogue des cultures ( German: Jacques Chirac Foundation for sustainable development and cultural dialogue ).
