Catherine Quittet

Catherine Quittet ( born January 22, 1964 in Megève ) is a French former alpine skier. She was one of the most successful athletes in the second half of the 1980s.

Quittet achieved in Downhill, Giant Slalom and Super -G numerous podium finishes in the World Cup. Two races she could win. At the Junior European Championships in 1981 and the Junior World Championships 1982, she won the gold medal in the downhill. Was Quittet 1980-1989 seven times French Champion. At major title competitions she was less successful. At the Olympic Games in Calgary in 1988 she won the giant slalom as one of the favorites only the 8th Place. In the World Ski Championships 1987 in Crans -Montana they binned in the downhill and giant slalom respectively on the 9th place. Disappointing but ran the race at the Ski World Championships in 1989 in Vail, as they reached the courts 12 ( giant slalom ) and 15 (super -G).

In 1990, she was injured in a crash on the descent of Santa Caterina, in the skiing it is then no longer returned.
