Cauberg

The Cauberg is a survey on the same street in Valkenburg, the Netherlands.

It is about 800 meters long and overcomes a difference in height of about 60 meters. Its average gradient is eight per cent, at the steepest point, there are more than eleven percent. At its peak, a health resort lies with, inter alia, thermal baths and a casino.

Internationally known is the Cauberg by cycling. He was the venue of the previous four World Championships and has recently become a regular target of the Amstel Gold Race. The third stage of the 2006 Tour de France ended in Valkenburg with the Cauberg as final climb two kilometers from the finish. Together with the Wall of Geraardsbergen he is one of the most famous climbs of the " Spring Classic " (cf. cycling classics ) in cycling.

On the Cauberg is since 2006 a memorial to those born in Valkenburg cyclist Jan van Hout, who in 1945 came in the Neuengamme concentration camp killed.
