The Caucasian Ovtcharka is a livestock guardian dog. Originally, its mission is to protect the South and North Caucasus, the herds from two - and four-legged thieves, and to act as a guard dog in the house and yard. Today, he is an esteemed family dog that needs a lot of space in the home and outside, to meet his guard dog characteristics and its precinct consciousness can. It is difficult with such a rather independent and separate from the human race to attain good results in dog sports since he does not really want to please his handler. A protection dog training is unnecessary and dangerous because it can not develop into an uncontrollable dog what would be dangerous given its strength and size. Protective behavior is deeply rooted in race and therefore does not need to be promoted. A companion dog training, however, is recommended.
