Caucasian Squirrel ( Sciurus anomalus )

The Caucasian Squirrel ( Sciurus anomalus ) is a rodent species from the genus of squirrel ( Sciurus ).

Features

The species reaches a head-body length of 190-255 mm. The Hinterfußlänge is 46 to 65 millimeters, the ear length of 23 to 36 millimeters and the Condylobasallänge 42 to 51 millimeters. The tail has a length of 120 to 180 mm, which corresponds to 50 to 85 percent of the head-body length. The species attains a weight of 330-430 grams. Occurrence

Habitat of the Caucasian squirrel are deciduous forests with oak, pine forests with pine or juniper and mixed stands of olive trees, pine trees and various shrubs. Way of life

The diurnal species has each morning and late afternoon maximum activity. Often they can be found on the ground and in rocky terrain. Protection examines the Caucasian squirrel preferably in treetops, rarely also in rock crevices. The nest is applied 3 to 5 feet above the ground in a tree hollow. The species feeds on acorns, nuts, seeds of coniferous trees, buds, berries and mushrooms. She puts on stocks.
