Cauchy-à-la-Tour

Cauchy -à -la-Tour is a commune with 2954 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Pas -de- Calais, in the Nord -Pas -de -Calais. It belongs to the arrondissement Béthune. The place is located in the northern French Artois. Cauchy -à -la-Tour is the birthplace of Marshal Pétain, leader of the Vichy regime.

History

The city's name dates back to the Roman Calciata on the military road from Arras to Therouanne.

From the capital, Paris is 230 km by motorway A1 and A26, exit Lillers. The town is located on both the D431 and on the N916.
