Cavallino

Cavallino is a Southeast Italian municipality ( comune ) with 11,909 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Lecce in Puglia. The community is located about 6 kilometers southeast of Lecce in Salento.

Prehistory and history

The remains of settlements ranging from the Bronze Age to the 3rd century BC, after the site was apparently abandoned. From the early period come next finds of stone tools even standing stones, such as the 2.6 m high menhir Ussano. The Bronze Age, rather small cabin groups were in the localita Pere and north thereof.
