Caving

The Caving Caving or is the commission of caves as a sport or hobby. In contrast to the speleology doing scientific research usually plays a minor role - even if one or the other discovery of a previously unknown cave section or a previously undiscovered property of a cave can also be interesting for science thoroughly and there is also some overlap in the other direction.

For some time now caving such as diving, orientation training, stay at a " remote " location is increasingly becoming an extreme sport, as it can be connected to thrill quite plus may include many other activities, etc.

Since it is very easy to cause the caving considerable damage to any local ecosystems, eg by introduction of bacteria and fungi or by pollution of water, one should be very careful here and in advance to inquire about local conditions and regulations.

DieVerband the German caves and karst researchers eV ( VdHK ) ausgebenen guidelines of the cave protection should be followed:

  • Tell someone where the tour, when you are back and who is possibly fetch for help.
  • For an adequate treatment ensure - varies depending on the cave.
  • Ensure appropriate clothing - depending on temperature, humidity and possibly different dives.
