CB Cornellà

CB Cornella is a Spanish basketball club from Cornella de Llobregat, Catalonia.

History

The club was founded in 1926. Because of the Spanish Civil War and its impact was the development of the club is slow. The team played a long time in the Catalan gaming communities. It was not until the early 1980s, they played with the Spanish basketball league system. The club has since come climbs up to the second- highest division in the Spanish basketball, but they were always followed by descents to the third tier. The 2009/10 season was the last time being in the league Española de Baloncesto. After the descent, the leaders were forced to volunteer to go up in Division 4, as the third division would have been financially not to play.

From the early 1990s until 2010 Cornella cooperated with FC Barcelona. The team could be regarded as a farm team of the Catalans. The best example of this cooperation is Pau Gasol. The future world champion and European champion and two-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, started at CB Cornella his career, before he moved to Barcelona in 1997.
