CC (cat)

CC ( born December 22, 2001 ♀ ), short for Copy Cat (English, such as " copy - cat ", but idiomatically " Copycat " ), according to another version of Carbon Copy (german f through) is the first cloned cat.

Your surrogate mother was mackerel, their Klonmutter a tortoiseshell cat. CC was the only one of 87 cloned embryos that survived. She was born in the veterinary faculty of Texas A & M University. Their existence was announced in February 2002 after their viability could be taken for granted. CC does have the same color genes as their gene donor, but due to different X-inactivation another coat pattern.

In September 2006, CC gave birth to three kittens naturally begotten. Today she lives with Duane Kraemer, a staff member of the project.

The CC project was carried out by Dr. Mark Westhusin in cooperation with the Koreans Dr. Taeyoung Shin ( 신태영 ) and was sponsored by the company Genetic Savings & Clone, which promised to be a lucrative market by cloning but departed cherished pets.
