CD Badajoz

The Club Deportivo Badajoz is a Spanish football club from the city of Badajoz, Extremadura. The club, founded in 1905 is set in the 2010/11 season in the Segunda División B, Group 1

History

New Club

The CD Badajoz was founded on August 15, 1905. This makes it the oldest club in Extremadura. From the two clubs Racing and Sports of the association was composed. Francisco Fernández Marquesta gave the team its first field, the mythical " Estadio El Vivero ".

Segunda División

For the first time in the Segunda División play CD Badajoz in the season 1953/1954. The club remained for seven years in the second highest Spanish League before he dismounted in 1960. After a few years break, succeeded in 1965 to return to League 2 This was the beginning of an up - and para Badajoz immediately dismounted and in the following year again. Financial crash

In the season 2004/2005 big financial problems came to Badajoz. Thanks to the help of the population, the dissolution of the association could be prevented. Although there are now several other clubs in the region remains CD Badajoz the club that best represents the city.

But only a year later, on 31 July 2006, announced the largest shareholder of the club Eloy Guerrero that one could no longer pay the players. Due to the precarious financial season of forced crash followed in the Tercera División due to inability to pay.

Stadium

CD Badajoz plays at the Estadio Nuevo Vivero, which has a capacity of 14,500 spectators. The stadium was inaugurated on 2 December 1998 in a friendly match against CF Extremadura. The game ended 0-0. The first official match was a 0-1 defeat against División CD Toledo in the Segunda. The first goal to Badajoz was Carlos Torres.

The first match in the new stadium took place in 1999 between Spain and Cyprus instead. The duel ended with 8-0 for the Iberians.
