CD Numancia

Club Deportivo Numancia de Soria is a Spanish sports club from the city of Soria. The club was founded on April 9, 1945. The football team plays in the Segunda División. The volleyball players play in the first Spanish league.

The name comes from the archaeological Numancia Numancia cities or from their Celtiberian inhabitants, ( 154-133 BC) contributed in the Spanish war against the Romans long resistance.

Football

The team of CD Numancia plays at home in red shirts with blue pants. Their home ground is the Estadio Nuevo Los Pajaritos with seating for 9,025 spectators.

His greatest success came Numancia 1995/96 in the Copa del Rey, when the club promoted three Premiership football clubs (Real Sociedad, Racing Santander and Sporting Gijón) from the competition. Only in the quarter-final against FC Barcelona retired from the team.

The club played from the 1989/90 season to the 1996/97 season in the third division, the Segunda B. In the seasons 1949/50, 1950/51, 1997/98, 1998/99, 2001/02-2003/04, 2005/ 06 and since 2009/10 in the Segunda A. in the four seasons 1999/ 00, 2000/ 01, 2004 /05 and 2008/ 09 played the first team of Numancia in La Liga.

Volleyball

The volleyball club Numancia Voley who competes under the name Numancia Ciudad del Medio Ambiente de Soria since the 2007 /08 season, is the most successful athletic section of the sports corporation. It was founded in 1978. The first men's team was relegated in season 1987/88 the first time in the Spanish first division. 1994, 2001 and 2008, she won the Spanish Volleyball Cup and the 1995, 1996 and 1999, the Spanish championship. In 1995, the team reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup where they defeated Daytona Modena Italy. In 1996, she finished fifth in the Champions League, where you also participated in the 2006/07 season, but was eliminated in the first round. 2005/ 06 and 2007/ 08 was Numancia participants in the new CEV Cup, where reaching the quarter- finals 2005/ 06 represented the greatest success.

In May 2007, the volleyball team is headed due to financial difficulties shortly before the release, but could be sustained by a new sponsorship deal.
