CDex

CDex is a Windows program, called a CD Ripper, which is used for digital reading / ripping audio CDs. The program is freely available under the GNU General Public License ( GPL).

Features

The multilingual software CDex contains only rudimentary functions for error correction and error detection. It can also be used the included cdparanoia but optionally, which then leads to high quality and comparable with EAC Rips. In the scope of the software, many codecs for the destination format are integrated, such as ( Ogg ) Vorbis, LAME MP3 and WMA. In addition, CDex is also expandable with external audio codecs. About the CDDB function, it is possible to retrieve title information from the inserted CD and to take on this information directly into the ID3 tags of audio files generated.

History

The last official version was 1:51 and was released in September 2003. Until that time, Albert L. Faber was responsible for the program. As long as no new version has been released, other programmers developed an unofficial beta version with the version number 1.60 - in this error were eliminated, among other things, uses current codecs. Meanwhile, the work on CDex by Georgy Berdyshev was resumed. Among other things, the CVS repository was converted to SVN, where some changes are now recorded. On 23 June 2006, a new development version ( beta 1.70b2 ), which includes new features and bug fixes appeared. On June 30, 2007, one day after the release of version 3 of the GPL, the license is updated. Thus CDex was one of the first major and popular projects that used the GPL version 3.
