CDIA Plus

CompTIA CDIA ( Certified Document Imaging Architect) is an international certificate attesting training as a consultant for electronic archiving, document technologies, document management and enterprise content management (ECM).

The CDIA covers topics such as the management of implementation projects, analysis, design and planning of solutions, system components, determine the technical parameters of the systems, conversion and piloting.

The certificate is awarded in a computer test based on multiple choice and computing tasks. The computer test is in English. Subjects whose native language is not English have 120 minutes instead of 90 minutes to answer the approximately 80 to 90 questions in order to achieve the necessary 700 of 900 possible points to pass the test. The questions and answers of computer tests and the course material is regularly updated. In addition to the classical themes now include records management, information lifecycle management and other enterprise content management areas to the course content.

Various organizations (eg AIIM International) and consulting companies offer multi-day courses to prepare for the certification, whose entry requirement is a perennial activity in the document management industry. Worldwide end of 2006 about 8000 CompTIA CDIA certificates were issued.

In the exam five areas are tested:

  • Capturing business requirements (25 percent)
  • Analyzing business processes ( 22 percent)
  • Recommend a solution ( 16 percent)
  • Designing a solution (24 percent)
