Cecil Rawling

Cecil Godfrey Rawling CMG, CIE, DSO (* February 16, 1870, † October 28, 1917 near Passchendaele ), was a British soldier with the rank of Brigadier and explorers.

In the years 1903/ 04, he participated in the invasion of British troops in Tibet headed by Francis Younghusband in part and directed together with CHD Ryder of the Younghusband then immediately prompted Gartok expedition.

When an expedition to the northwest Guinea (now Papua ) he discovered in 1909 the Tapiro, a hitherto unknown tribe as tall people. He was also the first who planned the research and ascent of Mount Everest.

In the third Battle of Ypres at Passchendaele in World War Rawling was killed.
