Cedar County (Missouri)

The Cedar County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 13,982 inhabitants and a population density of 11.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Stockton.

Geography

The County is located in the middle of the southwest Missouri in the middle of the Ozarks and is located in the west about 50 miles from the U.S. state of Kansas. It has an area of 1291 square kilometers, of which 58 square kilometers are water surface.

The county is drained by the Sac River, which is dammed by a dam located in the center of the county to Stockton Lake.

History

Cedar County was formed on February 14, 1845 from parts of Dade County and St. Clair County. It was named after the Cedar Creek.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2010 lived in Cedar County 13,982 people in 6135 households. The population density was 11.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 6135 households lived statistically 2.27 per person.
