Ceftarolinfosamil is a drug with antibiotic action.
It is the N -phosphono prodrug of Ceftarolin, a cephalosporin antibiotic with high effectiveness against methicillin-resistant staphylococci ( MRSA) and other multidrug-resistant problem bacteria (VISA, VRSA, PRSP), as well as against gram -negative bacteria, but not against ESBL -producing Enterobacteriaceae, and non- fermentor.
It was developed approved by the Japanese pharmaceutical company Takeda and in October 2010 by the FDA for the treatment of adults with community-acquired pneumonia and acute skin and soft tissue infections.
