Cell biology
The cell biology, cytology or cytology also (old Greek κύτος kytos, cell ', λόγος lógos ' doctrine' ) or also called cell theory, is a branch of biology. With the help of microscopy and molecular biological methods in cell biology cells explored in order to understand and elucidate biological processes at the cellular level. This includes the study of various compartments and the cell organelles, cell division, movement of cells and cell structures as well as the communication of cells with one another.
The cell biology has close contacts with neighboring disciplines of biochemistry, molecular biology, botany, zoology, physiology, developmental biology and immunology.
The term " cytology " is used synonymously for cytodiagnosis.
