Cellamare

Cell Amare is a Southeast Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5572 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Bari, in Puglia. The community is located about 13 kilometers southeast of Bari.

History

As in other communities of Puglia is also found here a menhir, which refers to a settlement in the early period.

1171 is the community for the first time (as Cella d' Amore, also: Amoris Cella, Cella Amaris ) mentioned in a document is to be a foundation of the Archbishop of Bari Rainaldo.

Economy and Transport

The community is dominated by agriculture. The Strada Statale 100 di Gioia di Colle runs through the municipality.

Community partnership

Cell Amare has since 2005 partnered with the Spanish city of Martos, in Jaen province.
