Cello (web browser)

Cello was an early web browser for Microsoft Windows.

It was developed by Thomas R. Bruce at Cornell University in response to the fact that many lawyers used PCs with Windows, but most Web browsers were only available for Unix. Cello was released on 8 June 1993 and is therefore one of the first web browsers for Windows. At the peak of its spread, the web browser was one of up to 200,000 users. The latest version of Cello appeared in 1994, shortly after the browser out of the picture due to the growing competition from the Netscape Navigator and later the Internet Explorer disappeared.

Cello offered in addition to supporting the HTTP standard even FTP, Gopher, Telnet, Usenet, and a simple email program for sending e -mails. It could also represent images.
