Cellole

Cellole is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7716 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. The community is located about 43 kilometers northwest of Caserta. With its hamlets Baia Domizia Baia Felice bounded on the west the Tyrrhenian Sea Cellole. The only neighboring community is Sessa Aurunca.

History

In old documents appeared on the Latinized form pagus cellularum. The villages in the municipality were probably already in antiquity and were settlements of Ausonians.

Traffic

Due to the community run the Strada Statale 7quater Via Domitiana and the former State Road 430 della Valle del Garigliano (now Regional Road ). The former breakpoint on the Roma- Formia -Naples is now shut down. The nearest railway station is located in Sessa Aurunca (or in Roccamonfina ).
