Celtic Thunder

Celtic Thunder is a six-member male Irish- Scottish singing group.

History

The project was initiated by producer Sharon Browne, who had already asked the female counterpart Celtic Woman on legs, and the songwriter and producer Phil Coulter. For the group of five singers were selected with proven musical background, who were aged 14-41 years and come from Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

In August 2007, the first show of Celtic Thunder was listed in the Helix in Dublin. The repertoire included not only traditional Celtic songs compositions by Coulter and a whole bunch of oldies from the 60s to 80s. Two-thirds of the songs were going solo performance of each one of the five singers. The recording of the event was broadcast in March 2008 nationwide on U.S. television, to came an appearance on St. Patrick 's Day in New York, who was also seen on television.

Celtic Thunder proved to be very successful and the album of the show captured in a short time number one on the U.S. world music albums charts. 18 times it was at the head, before it was replaced in October of the same year the second album Act Two. This second release was accompanied by a tour of the north of the States with performances in 48 cities. Another highlight for the group was the appearance before U.S. President Obama on St. Patrick's Day 2009 ..

The third album Take Me Home was released in July 2009 and rose again to number one in the world music charts. Like all previous albums, this album also successfully placed in the official sales charts.
