Centauros Villavicencio

Corporación Deportiva Centauro Villavicencio is a former Colombian football club based in Villavicencio.

History

The club was founded on 14 January 2002 and rose in the first season immediately from the second division in the Categoría Primera A on. On 2 February 2003 the club completed a 1-1 draw against Deportivo Pasto his first game in the highest Colombian league. The season opening was very successful run for the novice. At the end we reached the fourth place in the table and thus even the qualification for the Cuadrangulares, Colombia's championship playoffs. There, however, Villavicencio failed because of the other teams. All the more surprising after this successful first round followed in the Torneo Finalizacion the total crash. The club was standing with Atlético Bucaramanga and Cortuluá tied for the last place, but increased due to goal difference again in the second division. In the Primera B Villavicencio in 2004 reached the third place in the table, but then failed in the rise of games. Due to the high debts of the association and the low support from the regional government of the Meta, and the assured support of the Government of the Cauca, Centauro Villavicencio was dissolved in May 2011 after approval by the DIMAYOR and Universitario Popayan refounded.

Stadium

Centauro Villavicencio graduated its home games at the Estadio Manuel Calle Lombana in Villavicencio. The stadium has a capacity of 15,000 seats.
