CeNTech

The Center for Nanotechnology Münster ( CeNTech ) is considered one of Germany 's first centers for nanotechnology. It was founded in 2001 in Münster, Westphalia, and opened in 2003. Due to the strong research in nanotechnology, it works closely with the Westfälische Wilhelms- University and many other actors from the nanobioanalytics cluster Münster. The next CeNTech makes basic research also help start-ups and provides office and laboratory space. It also offers training and further training in the field of nanotechnology.

History

The Center for Nanotechnology ( CeNTech ) resulted from a collaboration between the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster ( WWU ) and the city of Münster. After the founding in 2001 and its opening in 2003 it was one of Germany's one of the first institutions in the biologists, chemists, physicists and physicians as well as company conditions vorfanden for interdisciplinary cooperation. The focus of the initiators was to promote research in the field of nanotechnology and continued progress of spin-off companies.

In 2005, the CeNTech organized the first NanoBio -Europe before Münster in 2007 and again in 2010 acted to Barcelona and Grenoble as host. 2014, the NanoBio -Europe will take place for the fourth time in Münster. It resulted that time as the new European leading congress for nanobiotechnological edge research and applications from the NanoBioTec (Münster, 2000-2003) and the nano Biotechnologies X -France ( Paris, Grenoble, 2000-2003).

In January 2012, the CeNTech was that was busy with eight working groups to research and development, nine companies and 100 employees to 2,400 m² to extend a building. The CeNTech II with 1,300 m² of floor space cost a total of 7.2 million euros. Five million euros came from the country from the economic stimulus package, with 2.2 million euros paid EMU, chemistry, physics and biology laboratories from. The laboratories were recruited by the EMU scientists on external funding.

After 2008, the CeNTech has received the end of 2012 once again chosen as the lead underwriter in the country cluster " NanoMikroWerkstoffePhotonik.NRW ". The commitment of the NRW Ministry of Science applies to two and a half years and may be extended to four. The cluster is to make the great potential of NRW in the fields of nano, micro, innovative materials and photonics be used optimally. Country and EU promote with 2.2 million euros. The cluster office is operated by the NMW Management GmbH in Dusseldorf.

Scientific Environment

The Center for Nanotechnology ( CeNTech ) is located in the Science Park Münster adjacent to Technologiehof with technology promotion Münster GmbH and technology-oriented companies, the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine, the European Institute for Molecular Imaging ( EIMI ) and the University of Applied Sciences Münster. In another environment, the physical, chemical, medical and pharmaceutical institutes of the Westfälische Wilhelms -Universität Münster, Münster University Hospital and the battery research center " Münster Electrochemical Energy Technology " are ( MEET ) at the University of Münster. Opened in January 2012 Nano - Bioanalysis Center Muenster ( NOC ), working in the small and medium-sized high-tech companies, is an important addition to the basic research in CeNTech.

Awards

The scientific director of the Center for Nanotechnology ( CeNTech ), Harald Fuchs receives, in 2009, the Friedrich Emich Plaque of the Austrian Society of Analytical Chemistry ( ASAC ).

Since December 2011 carries the Miinster Center for Nanotechnology ( CeNTech ) the title of " City of Progress".
