The Centennial Olympic Stadium in Atlanta was the main stadium of the Summer Olympic Games in 1996. The 85,000 -seat arena was the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies as well as athletics competitions. Moreover, took place from 16th - 25th August, the Summer Paralympics held in 1996. The construction of the stadium began on 13 July 1993.
