Center for International Development at Harvard University

The Center for International Development (CID ) is a leading U.S. academic think tank at Harvard Kennedy School, which operates in the field of international development cooperation.

Objectives

  • Will change the way conceived as growth strategies, developed and implemented;
  • Reinvention of development policy in order to facilitate the movement of countries towards more productive activities;
  • Expansion of markets for the Underserved and the empowerment of the disenfranchised;
  • Improvement of services in education, health and other social services;
  • Development of institutions, policies and practices that support sustainable development, which simultaneously satisfies human needs and the life support systems of the Earth receives.

Organization

The Center for International Development is led by the Faculty Director, the Executive Director and a Steering Committee consisting of faculty members. Currently, Ricardo Hausmann Faculty Director of the CID, while Marcela Escobari holds the post of Executive Director. In total there are around 50 scientists and researchers from the Kennedy School of Government, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, School of Public Health, Medical School, Graduate School of Education, Graduate School of Design, Law School and Business School of Harvard University at the CID operates.

Activities

The Center for International Development offers a range of educational programs for students and professionals, and research programs, organizes regular conferences on current topics and publishes research results.
