Center Game
The means Gambit is an opening of the chess game. It is one of the open-ended play and is classified in the ECO codes under the key C22.
In older chess publications is also the term " middle game " instead of " Gambit means " to be found. This designation, however, is ambiguous in chess vocabulary: Medium Game also refers to the phase of the game after the opening. In the chess literature has now become the designation " means Gambit " has prevailed, although white in the main variation after 3 Dd1xd4 no sacrifices farmers and plays no Gambit. True Gambit variants arise after 3 c2 - c3 or, rarely encountered, f2 - f4 3.
