The Central Asian Ovtcharka (in Russian Среднеазиатская овчарка transcribed Sredneasijatskaja Ovcharka, Central Asian Shepherd Dog ) is recognized by the FCI breed of dog that is native to Central Asia ( FCI Group 2, Section 2.2, Standard No. 335). Origin and History

The Central Asian Ovtcharka is a relatively unknown in Germany dog. Originally it finds its dissemination in the Central Asian republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia. In the Urals and in Siberia the Central Asian Ovtcharka is no stranger. Due to this enormous distribution area occurs because the diversity of the individual strokes of the breed.

Description

Today bred dogs are mostly mixed types from different strokes. As with the Caucasian Ovtcharka, there is light, nimble, agile dog of the steppes and the more massive dogs from the mountain regions. Through a well-developed undercoat and different lengths of the deck fur, the dogs are the different climatic conditions of Central Asia well adapted.

Nature

The Central Asian Ovtcharka is a calm temperament, very confident and makes its decisions independently. He remains even at threat calmly and then reach without warning to attack. As with all guard dogs distinguishes it in particular his courage and fighting strength.

With strange dogs of Central Asian Ovtcharka is usually only partially compatible and it is less suitable as family or companion dog in the city.

Use

The Central Asian Ovtcharka is a livestock guardian dog, it is still used today in its areas of origin to work and accompanied the shepherds in their wanderings through the steppes.
