Central Bank of Russia

Called The Bank Rossii (Russian Банк России ), and Central Bank of Russian Federation ( Центральный банк Российской Федерации ), the Central Bank of Russia, based in Moscow.

The duties and functions of the Bank Rossii are described in the Russian Constitution in Article 75 as well as in special Russian federal law. The central bank was founded on July 13, 1990, but is historically and legally the successor of the State Bank of the Russian Empire or the Gosbank the Soviet Union.

According to the Russian Constitution, the central bank is an independent institution with its main responsibility in the protection and stabilization of the Russian currency, the ruble. The Central Bank has the sole right to produce banknotes and coins of the ruble. The headquarters of the Central Bank is located on the Neglinnaja Street in Moscow.
